Procurement Manager – Freelance

About the role

EKFB, a joint venture of leading civil‑engineering firms, is seeking a Freelance Procurement Manager for a minimum nine‑month assignment in the North Chilterns area, just outside Aylesbury. You will lead procurement activities for a defined section of works on a high‑speed rail project.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the tendering, award and recommendation of work packages and orders within your scope.
• Act as the primary EKFB contact with the supply chain, ensuring all interactions reflect the company’s values and procurement vision.
• Conduct procurement to the highest ethical standards, prioritising value‑based decisions over lowest cost.
• Engage internal stakeholders throughout the process and secure endorsement for recommendations.
• Prepare and deliver internal presentations outlining package strategies and award recommendations.
• Assess market capacity to inform tendering decisions.

Required profile

• Excellent written communication and ability to draft formal subcontract documents.
• Experience working with NEC contracts.
• Strong knowledge of supply‑chain principles, procedures and methods.
• Proven analytical, problem‑solving and organisational abilities.
• Capability to manage diverse internal and external stakeholder groups.
• Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
