Procurement Manager

About the role

Polytec are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to join an innovative technology manufacturing business during a period of rapid growth. This hands‑on role based near Royston will take ownership of procurement operations, supply‑chain development, inventory management and supplier performance to support the scale‑up of production activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement purchasing processes covering quotations, purchase orders, goods receipt, inspection, invoice reconciliation and inventory management.
• Drive improvements in supply‑chain planning, moving towards demand‑driven replenishment systems.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate commercial terms and identify cost‑reduction opportunities.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure material availability to support manufacturing schedules.
• Track and report key procurement metrics, including inventory performance, costs and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Oversee third‑party logistics activities and support efficient operational processes.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, operations and finance teams to align procurement activities with business objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement, purchasing or a related supply‑chain role.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to balance strategic improvements with day‑to‑day operational demands.
• Good analytical and reporting skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office software.
• Experience implementing business systems or managing improvement projects is advantageous.
