Product Designer

About the role

You will join an award‑winning energy‑tech scale‑up building a flagship geospatial planning tool used across the UK power market. Reporting to the Chief of Product, you will have full ownership of product design, shaping low‑carbon infrastructure solutions for cities and utilities.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end design of core features, from user research to high‑fidelity Figma deliverables ready for developers.
• Conduct user research and usability testing, translating feedback into concrete improvements for data‑heavy workflows.
• Create wireframes and clickable prototypes in Figma for product managers, engineers and clients.
• Maintain and evolve the Figma design library and broader design system, ensuring a well‑structured component set.
• Monitor competitor UX/UI patterns to inform best‑practice design decisions.
• Collaborate closely with product owners and developers to refine requirements, support backlog grooming, and guarantee shipped experiences match the intended design.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in Figma with a portfolio that demonstrates the full design process.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical, design or product‑related field.
• Clear communication and cognitive empathy when working with developers, data specialists, commercial teams and end users.
• Proactive, organised and comfortable in a small startup environment where responsibilities are fluid.
• Experience with user research, usability testing, agile tools (e.g., Jira) and an interest in energy, infrastructure or geospatial products.

What we offer

• Base salary £35,000–£45,000 per year, with potential stretch to £55,000 for outstanding performance.
