Product Development & Buying Assistant – Beauty

About the role

We are a fast‑growing beauty and cosmetics brand based in St Albans, supplying major retailers across the UK and Europe. We are looking for a Product Development / Buying Assistant to support the product development team with sample handling, approvals and artwork coordination. This is an ideal entry‑level position for anyone eager to start a career in product development or buying.

Key responsibilities

• Manage incoming and outgoing product samples, coordinating with factories, licensors and internal sales teams to ensure timely receipt and processing.
• Photograph, catalogue and store samples, keeping records accurate and accessible for the wider team.
• Upload product concepts to licensor portals, track feedback, and communicate approval status to the development team.
• Assist with artwork checks, briefings and ensure artwork is up‑to‑date before production.
• Oversee re‑order processes, working with compliance and development to confirm product compliance and correct artwork.
• Set up and maintain product codes and barcodes.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an office environment; experience in product development or buying is a plus.
• Highly organised with a methodical approach to handling multiple samples and processes.
• Confident communicator comfortable liaising with factories, licensors and internal teams.
• Ability to juggle several priorities and meet deadlines.
• Genuine interest in product development and a desire to build a career in the field.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
