Production Engineer – Electronics Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Production Engineer to join our electronics manufacturing team in Stevenage. You will optimise production processes, ensure product quality and drive continuous improvement across our PCB assembly lines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and refine manufacturing processes for PCB assembly, SMT, through‑hole assembly and final product integration.
• Monitor production metrics, identify bottlenecks, reduce defects and improve throughput.
• Lead root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process and quality issues.
• Specify, procure and qualify production equipment, jigs and fixtures; maintain and calibrate them to minimise downtime.
• Ensure compliance with IPC standards, ISO 9001 and other industry regulations.
• Drive lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to increase yield and lower costs.
• Support new product introduction by collaborating with R&D and design engineers.
• Partner with supply‑chain, procurement and logistics to secure component availability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electrical/Electronic or Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in production or manufacturing engineering, preferably in electronics or PCB assembly.
• Strong knowledge of SMT, wave soldering, reflow ovens and overall electronics assembly processes.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous‑improvement methodologies.
• Familiarity with IPC standards, ESD safety protocols and ISO 9001 requirements.
