Production Engineer

About the role

Archangel Lightworks Ltd is seeking a Production Engineer to join its fast‑growing engineering team in Oxford. You will work on the serial production, assembly, integration and testing of cutting‑edge laser communications and optical ground‑station hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble and test subsystems, supporting system‑level integration of optical ground stations (electrical, mechanical or optical domains).
• Manufacture and assemble mechanical parts, operate 3D‑printing equipment and accept outsourced components while maintaining inventory.
• Champion build quality, document processes and collaborate with engineers to optimise workflows, reduce waste and maximise output.
• Manage ordering, oversee outsourced components and support supply‑chain activities.
• Provide field maintenance, deployment and installation of new systems, including international travel as required.
• Inspect incoming parts, enforce quality standards and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, handle Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of commercial production or manufacturing experience.
• Hands‑on experience assembling, integrating and testing systems/subsystems in at least one of the mechanical, electrical or optical domains.
• Proactive, detail‑oriented and capable of independent work in a lab environment.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities and willingness to travel abroad.
