Production Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Production Engineer to join a leading scientific instrument manufacturer’s fast‑paced manufacturing team in Crewe. The role involves assembling electrical and electronic systems for high‑tech scientific instrumentation, working from technical drawings and wiring diagrams.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble control cabinets, create cable harnesses, install terminals, and perform crimping and soldering of complex high‑density connectors.
• Refurbish and upgrade existing instrumentation, including PCB assembly and surface‑mount device soldering.
• Conduct electrical fault finding and support servicing, repairs, and upgrades on customer sites in the UK and overseas.

Required profile

• Electrical or electro‑mechanical engineering background gained through qualification or practical industry experience.
• Significant hands‑on assembly experience in a workshop or manufacturing environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong practical assembly skills.

Required skills

• Soldering, including complex high‑density connector and surface‑mount device techniques.
• Cable making, crimping and terminal installation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and PCB schematics.
• Experience with PCB assembly and fault finding.
