Production Operator – Packaging (Day or Rotating Shifts)

About the role

We are seeking a Production Operator to work on our packaging lines at a busy manufacturing site in St. Albans. The role offers both day‑shift and rotating day‑night shift options and provides a clear pathway for long‑term career development within a growing team.

Key responsibilities

• Operate packaging lines safely and efficiently to meet daily production targets.
• Perform machine set‑up, changeovers and routine cleaning activities.
• Load packaging materials and ensure continuous line operation.
• Monitor processes, replace materials as needed and conduct in‑process quality checks.
• Maintain accurate production documentation and support audits.
• Identify and report minor machine faults, minimise downtime and waste.
• Uphold GMP, SOP, health & safety and quality standards.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and collaborate with colleagues.

Required profile

• Previous experience in production, manufacturing or packaging environments.
• Ability to work scheduled shifts, including day or rotating day‑night patterns.

Required skills

• Packaging line operation.
• Machine set‑up and changeover.
• Production monitoring and material handling.
• In‑process quality inspection.
• Compliance with GMP, SOP and health & safety procedures.

What we offer

• Day shift: £12.71 per hour, 40 hours/week.
• Rotating day‑night shift: £15.88 per hour, 48 hours/week.
• Overtime paid at 1.25 × hourly rate (day shift) or at standard rate (rotating shift).
• Annual salary range £26,000 – £33,000.
