Production Supervisor

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Production Supervisor to join our busy manufacturing operation on a permanent basis. This highly visible shop‑floor leadership role will ensure operational standards are maintained across day or night shifts in a fast‑paced, heavy‑industrial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage day‑to‑day operations across the assigned shift pattern.
• Maintain high health & safety standards, ensuring strict PPE compliance.
• Be visible on the shop floor at all times, monitoring output quality and product specifications.
• Allocate and balance labour across production units to meet schedules.
• Conduct inductions, site tours, absence management and return‑to‑work processes.
• Use the HR system to record attendance and sickness.
• Address performance and behavioural issues fairly and professionally.
• Escalate issues when necessary and have difficult conversations.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Confidence working independently, especially on night shift.
• Strong leadership presence with a "firm but fair" management style.
• Willingness to be highly hands‑on and physically present on the shop floor.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and keep production running smoothly.
• Excellent communication and people‑management skills.

• Competitive salary £45,000‑£50,000 per annum.
• 12‑hour shift pattern (Monday‑Thursday) with overtime available on Fridays.
