Production Supervisor

About the role

The Production Supervisor will support the Operations Director in coordinating day‑to‑day activities across the machining and production areas of a privately owned SME manufacturing group. The role ensures safe, efficient output that meets quality standards and aligns with customer and business priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of assigned production zones, ensuring targets and customer priorities are met.
• Monitor workload, capacity, bottlenecks and resource needs, adjusting plans as required.
• Communicate daily priorities and any changes to the production team.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting flow, such as delays, re‑work, shortages, machine downtime or skills gaps.
• Promote good housekeeping, health & safety and professional standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and the implementation of new processes.
• Provide day‑to‑day supervision, conduct informal performance discussions and address minor conduct or attendance issues.
• Assist HR and the Operations Director with investigations, disciplinary actions and absence management.

Required profile

• Experience supervising production or manufacturing teams in a shop‑floor environment.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to monitor capacity and manage resources.
• Good communication skills to convey priorities and collaborate with engineering, quality and planning.
• Commitment to health & safety, housekeeping and continuous improvement.
• Ability to address minor performance issues and support employee development.
