About the role

Avencia Consulting is seeking a Professional Indemnity Underwriter to join a leading specialty insurer’s established PI team in London. The role involves managing a diverse international portfolio of professional indemnity business, driving both new and renewal underwriting while building broker relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal professional indemnity business across multiple sectors and geographies.
• Assess exposures, price risks and negotiate appropriate terms and conditions.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and act as a market‑facing point of contact.
• Identify and pursue new‑business opportunities to grow the portfolio responsibly.
• Utilise underwriting data and market insight to inform risk‑selection decisions.
• Monitor regulatory, technological and market developments affecting PI risks.
• Contribute to portfolio strategy, product development and support junior team members.

Required profile

• Solid understanding of professional indemnity risks and the broader insurance market.
• Strong technical underwriting judgement and a disciplined approach to risk selection.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with brokers.
• Proactive attitude towards new‑business development and profitable growth.
• Commercial awareness and curiosity about emerging exposures.
