Programme Director – Data Platform Replacement (Board-facing)

About the role

A well‑established UK organisation is seeking an experienced Programme Director to lead the Pre‑Discovery phase of a major data platform replacement. This high‑visibility, board‑facing mandate requires building the evidence base – stakeholder appetite, legal position, cost estimate and delivery plan – that will determine whether the programme proceeds.

Key responsibilities

• Appoint and manage an external consultancy through RFP and delivery.
• Lead stakeholder engagement to assess appetite, funding willingness and concerns.
• Coordinate legal and commercial analysis on exit and transition considerations.
• Develop the 2027 Discovery & Design phase plan and cost estimate.
• Produce the board recommendation paper and mobilisation roadmap.

Required profile

• Proven track record in stakeholder consultation or market‑engagement programmes.
• Experience delivering large‑scale technology or data programmes, ideally with target operating model or major platform deployment experience.
• Comfort managing external consultancies/suppliers as well as internal delivery teams.
• Strong board‑level report writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to own end‑to‑end programme delivery, not just BAU tasks.
