Project Accountant

About the role

This full‑time, office‑based position reports to the Finance Director and is responsible for accurate and timely financial management across the business. The successful candidate will handle day‑to‑day accounting tasks, support month‑end processes and ensure compliance with VAT and audit requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily bank reconciliations for all accounts.
• Compile, post and manage sales and purchase invoices and payments.
• Maintain stock book movements and master files.
• Prepare draft monthly management accounts, including journals, intercompany adjustments and reconciliations.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet control accounts and maintain month‑ and year‑end files.
• Process petty cash, credit‑card transactions and expense claims.
• Prepare data and documentation for year‑end audit.
• Handle pension fund invoicing and record‑keeping.
• Manage debtor accounts and raise sales/purchase invoices.
• Oversee VAT margin scheme liabilities and coordinate quarterly sign‑off with the Managing Director.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an accountant or senior bookkeeper.
• Strong attention to detail and self‑motivation.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
• Experience in group accounting and management accounts preparation.
• Background in audit processes and VAT compliance.
