Project Design Engineer – Heavy Lifting Solutions

About the role

We are seeking a Project Design Engineer with specialist experience in heavy‑lifting solutions to join a fast‑growing engineering firm working on high‑profile nuclear, marine and civil infrastructure projects, including Hinkley Point C.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed AutoCAD drawings for structures used to lift and transport equipment up to 500 tonnes.
• Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to verify structural integrity under lift scenarios.
• Oversee projects from concept design through to delivery, ensuring compliance with client and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with clients, site managers and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges.

Required profile

• Proven background in project design for heavy‑lifting or similar critical infrastructure.
• Experience delivering solutions for nuclear, marine, defence or civil sectors.
• Ability to commute to Portishead.
