Project Engineer – Design (Aerospace)

About the role

At Airbus Belfast we are pioneering the future of sustainable aerospace. The Project Engineer – Design will lead specialist technical packages within our Structures and Systems Installation teams, ensuring compliance with Design Authority and air‑worthiness standards while bridging design, feasibility and shop‑floor manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership, mentorship and advice to an engineering team, developing innovative solutions to complex design problems.
• Take full accountability for assigned projects, delivering technical commitments within agreed schedules and budgets.
• Maintain deep design engineering expertise across the design‑to‑manufacturing lifecycle to satisfy customer specifications and regulatory standards.
• Work closely with cross‑functional specialists, customers and suppliers to coordinate complex engineering packages and conduct feasibility studies.

Required profile

• Degree (BSc/BEng) in Mechanical, Aerospace or Manufacturing Engineering with 3+ years design experience, or HNC/HND with 5+ years experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft structures and/or systems installation and applicable air‑worthiness regulations (CAA, EASA, FAA).
• Proven experience managing and mentoring engineering teams on specialist technical packages.
• Strong organisational and presentation skills for reporting to senior management, customers and certification authorities.
