Project Engineer – Fire Suppression

About the role

Johnson Controls is seeking a Project Engineer specialising in fire suppression to join its Glasgow installation team. Reporting to the Head of Regional Install UK / Contracts Manager UK, you will support installers, engineers and subcontractors, leading key installation initiatives and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain close collaboration with Installation Management to review and improve departmental objectives.
• Record, monitor and manage defects and specification/scope deviations.
• Directly manage a designated team of engineers within the Install Department.
• Coordinate engineers and subcontractors on site, ensuring proper execution of work.
• Implement procedures, brief staff promptly and enforce best practice.
• Plan and schedule manpower and equipment for programmed jobs, meeting time and budget targets.
• Oversee engineers’ documentation, certify timesheets and ensure accurate hour booking.
• Conduct regular safety and quality audits on engineers and subcontractors.
• Identify development areas through performance assessments and create training plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing installation projects and leading engineering teams.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities.
• Ability to work closely with subcontractors and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Effective communication skills for briefing staff and reporting to senior management.
