Project Engineer – Heavy Lifting Designs

About the role

We are seeking a Project Engineer with proven experience in heavy‑lifting solutions to join a fast‑growing engineering firm working on critical infrastructure projects such as Hinkley Point C, marine, rail and defence schemes. You will be responsible for the design and analysis of lifting structures that safely move equipment weighing over 500 tonnes.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed AutoCAD drawings for heavy‑lifting equipment and support structures.
• Develop smart engineering solutions for lifting operations, including barge, crane and HGV transport.
• Perform finite element analysis (FEA) to validate designs against safety and performance criteria.
• Oversee projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
• Collaborate with clients and site managers to understand technical challenges and provide tailored solutions.

Required profile

• Background in project design for heavy‑lifting applications.
• Experience as a Project Engineer or in a similar role.
• Ability to commute to Portishead.
