Project Engineer

About the role

We are supporting a market‑leading engineering business that operates a large, complex site in the Tyne and Wear area. The company delivers multi‑disciplinary engineering projects to global clients in a highly regulated sector and is looking for a Project Engineer to join the fabrication facility team. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will lead projects within the fabrication facility, ensuring delivery against technical, safety and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed project plans, allocate resources and manage budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance on project challenges and refine specifications as required.
• Identify potential bottlenecks, propose and implement corrective actions to keep projects on schedule.
• Compile and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
• Monitor project progress against milestones and report status to senior management.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams including design, procurement and quality assurance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar project engineering role, preferably with exposure to fabrication processes.
• Backgrounds in manufacturing, oil & gas, subsea, renewables, automotive or capital equipment are all considered relevant.
• Positive, proactive attitude with strong communication skills at all organisational levels.
• Ability to work autonomously and prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
