Project Engineer – NPI, Tooling, Automotive

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our West Midlands manufacturing facility as a Project Engineer. The role will support both our local site and an Eastern European plant, delivering new product introduction (NPI) projects across automotive, medical and industrial markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead NPI projects from concept to completion, creating project plans, gateways and APQP deliverables.
• Manage NPI tooling projects, handling 4‑5 concurrent programmes valued between £200k and £2M.
• Drive PPAP and ISIR submission activities in collaboration with the engineering team.
• Communicate project expectations to customers throughout the product lifecycle.
• Oversee suppliers, toolmakers and subcontractors across the UK and EMEA.
• Support in‑house manufacturing operations and improve project KPIs such as OTIF and Right First Time.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience running simultaneous NPI projects in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong commercial awareness and resilience under tight delivery expectations.
• Ability to manage budgets and drive continuous improvement within project teams.
