Project Management Intern - Game Development

About the role

Tencent's Lightspeed Studios develops games such as PUBG Mobile, and its Lightspeed Tech Center is an R&D department that researches and supports technologies across the full game lifecycle, including engine, audio, QA, AI and next-generation game projects. This internship covers project coordination and management for distributed game development.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate game co-development across partners, external studios and internal teams, aligning product and technical requirements and clarifying scope boundaries.
• Manage master project plans across time zones and regions, tracking delivery of art, animation, audio assets and code integration.
• Establish and improve remote collaboration workflows and communication protocols to bridge cultural and language gaps.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks in distributed teams such as communication lag, build integration friction and cultural mismatches.
• Research global gaming markets and emerging tech trends (e.g. generative AI, AI-driven game tools) and deliver insight reports.

Required profile

• Strong cross-cultural communication and documentation skills, able to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Understanding of the game development lifecycle and experience or knowledge of remote team management, art outsourcing or multi-site agile frameworks.
• Desk research skills and familiarity with AI toolsets such as ChatGPT, Midjourney and Copilot.
• Proficiency in English as a working language and flexibility to work across time zones.
• Preferred: experience living or studying abroad, an internship in an international game studio (PMO/outsourcing/localization), or deep knowledge of game genres.
