Project Manager – Civil Engineering (Exeter)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead civil and utilities projects across the South West, based in Exeter. The role involves overseeing water infrastructure works from East Cornwall to Bristol, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the safe, efficient delivery of multiple civils/utilities sites.
• Manage programmes to hit key project milestones.
• Partner with the commercial team on budgets and financial forecasting.
• Support the pre‑construction team with technical input and site visits.
• Coordinate with highways, public authorities and statutory bodies.
• Build strong client relationships and report progress to senior stakeholders.
• Drive a robust H&S culture, ensuring compliance with PUWER, LOLER, RAMS, temporary works and CDM documentation.
• Maintain accurate, audit‑ready site records.

Required profile

• Solid project management experience in wastewater/clean water infrastructure, utilities or construction.
• Sound technical knowledge of civil engineering standards and regulations.
• Experience with New Engineering Contract 4th edition (NEC4) contracts.
• Ability to juggle multiple sites and teams at pace.
• Confident client‑facing communication skills.
• Relevant qualifications such as a construction‑related degree or NVQ/HNC, CSCS Gold/Black, SMSTS, NRSWA, Temporary Works Supervisor, EUSR NPORS.
