Project Manager – Engineering & Infrastructure

About the role

Scottish Canals is seeking a Project Manager to lead multiple engineering and infrastructure projects across its canal network. You will be responsible for delivering projects on time, within budget, and while protecting the heritage and environmental values of the canals.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, scope and deliver engineering projects, ensuring adherence to agreed timescales and budgets.
• Manage the full project lifecycle, including sequencing activities and tracking milestones.
• Coordinate resources such as staff, contractors and equipment for successful execution.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, cost plans and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual, health & safety and CDM requirements.
• Identify, assess and manage project risks, escalating issues when necessary.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining clear communication throughout delivery.
• Embed environmental, heritage and sustainability considerations at every project stage.

Required profile

• Degree (minimum HND/C) in a relevant engineering or construction discipline.
• Professional engineering registration (e.g., CEng) is desirable.
