Project Manager – Engineering R&D (RAS 212)

About the role

We are seeking a Project Manager to lead internally funded engineering projects for a UK‑based organisation that develops advanced subsea systems for defence, energy, scientific and maritime markets. The role focuses on research, development and product innovation, guiding concepts through design, verification and delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and deliver internal engineering development projects from concept to completion.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans covering milestones, activities, dependencies and resources.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across software, hardware, electro‑mechanical design and New Product Introduction (NPI).
• Monitor progress against timelines, budgets (ranging £50k‑£2m+) and technical objectives.
• Identify, assess and manage risks, issues and dependencies throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead internal project reviews, gateway activities and ensure actions are captured and completed.
• Provide clear reporting and communication to stakeholders across the business.
• Support continuous improvement of project delivery processes and capture lessons learned.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing internal engineering or R&D projects.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong organisational and governance skills for complex technical projects.
