About the role
As a Project Manufacturing Engineering Team Leader you will head the Project Manufacturing Engineers (PME) within the Manufacturing Engineering department, delivering manufacturing solutions for new products, platforms and sustaining projects. Reporting to the Manufacturing Systems Manager, you will work in a hybrid setting between the Bristol office and remote locations.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and plan PME activities to maintain capable capacity and efficient workload.
- Maintain and continuously improve the PME tracker for focused resource control.
- Identify, request and manage additional resources to meet project timelines.
- Lead bi‑weekly PME meetings to share knowledge, monitor risks and ensure visibility of all activities.
- Support personal development through regular 1‑2‑1 reviews and PDPs.
- Guide PME teams in developing and modifying manufacturing processes for new systems, platforms and sub‑assemblies.
- Ensure PCP projects are delivered on time, to standard and within budget as part of cross‑functional teams.
- Hold financial accountability for PME project expenditure, approving and reviewing costs.
- Participate in project team meetings and senior reviews, presenting manufacturing status to site management.
- Assist recruitment activities within the manufacturing systems group.
Required profile
- Proven experience leading manufacturing engineering or project engineering teams.
- Strong track record of delivering complex manufacturing projects.
- Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, industrialisation and production risk management.
- Experience setting and delivering business plans, KPIs and operational targets.
- Hands‑on experience with lean manufacturing tools and methodologies.
- Strong project and change management capability with measurable business outcomes.
- Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic assemblies.
- Confidence using ERP systems and engineering data.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
