Property Surveyor

About the role

The Property Surveyor will conduct a wide range of inspections across Barnstaple and surrounding areas, ensuring building safety, regulatory compliance and value for money for our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out stock condition surveys, HHSRS assessments, void inspections, fire risk assessments, asbestos re‑inspections, energy assessments and quality audits.
• Identify building defects, diagnose required repairs and oversee remedial work to maintain quality and compliance.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors, ensuring adherence to CDM regulations and health & safety standards.
• Act as the primary customer‑facing contact, communicating findings clearly and resolving issues promptly.

Required profile

• HNC/NVQ Level 3 in Building Studies or a relevant trade qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ site experience.
• Professional membership of CIOB or RICS, or willingness to work towards it.
• Strong knowledge of building defects, repair specifications and CDM regulations.
• Experience managing contractors and delivering projects on budget and timescale.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel across North Devon.
• P402 Asbestos Surveying qualification (or willingness to obtain).
• Willingness to undergo a basic DBS check.
