Proposals Engineer / Bid Engineer – Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a Proposals Engineer / Bid Engineer to join a well‑established engineering services business in Stockton‑on‑Tees. You will own the end‑to‑end tendering process, turning customer enquiries into competitive, technically accurate proposals across energy, process, utilities and manufacturing sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multiple bids, tenders and proposals simultaneously from enquiry to submission.
• Review customer specifications, enquiries and tender documentation.
• Coordinate technical and commercial input from engineering, operations and project teams.
• Prepare high‑quality technical and commercial submission packages.
• Analyse labour hours, project costs and commercial assumptions.
• Develop competitive tender strategies with engineering teams.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Liaise with customers for clarification where required.
• Support continuous improvement of bid processes and assist with project handovers after award.

Required profile

• Experience preparing engineering bids, tenders or proposals.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications and customer requirements.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Background in industrial engineering, process industries, EPC, utilities, energy or related sectors.
