PRU Teaching Assistant – Support SEMH Students

About the role

Join a dedicated team in Brent to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. As a PRU Teaching Assistant you will work in a Positive Behaviour Support environment, helping students achieve their personal and academic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to students with SEMH needs.
• Implement behaviour management and de‑escalation techniques.
• Assist in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities.
• Build positive relationships that boost self‑esteem and resilience.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other professionals on IEPs and Behaviour Support Plans.
• Monitor, record and report progress and behaviour to the SENCO and relevant staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in a PRU or similar setting.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Up‑to‑date CV and willingness to start as soon as possible.
• Commitment to making a positive impact on vulnerable learners.

Required skills

• Training or certification in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) – advantageous.
• Knowledge of Team‑Teach or similar behaviour management strategies – advantageous.

What we offer

• Daily rate of £90‑£120, dependent on experience.
• Full‑time, contractor position with immediate start.
