Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

About the role

The Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) will join Ascend’s evidence‑based service supporting individuals aged 16 and over who have experienced sexual assault or abuse. Working alongside local voluntary partners and NHS services, the PWP delivers Step 2 interventions through one‑to‑one sessions and group work.

Key responsibilities

• Accept referrals following agreed protocols and assess suitability with supervision.
• Conduct patient‑centred assessments to identify goals, evaluate risk to self and others, and develop care plans.
• Provide evidence‑based Step 2 psychological treatments in face‑to‑face, telephone, workshop or digital formats.
• Deliver a minimum of two hours per week of individual or group therapy for adults (16+).
• Maintain an activity contract to ensure timely client contact and treatment delivery.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and adhere to service referral pathways.

Required profile

• Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner or equivalent mental‑health qualification.
• Experience working with adults and young people (16+) who have experienced trauma.
• Ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds and use interpreters when needed.
• Commitment to equal‑opportunity principles and the Greener NHS agenda.
• Willingness to work under supervision on a fixed‑term contract (until 31 Mar 2027).
