Public Procurement Lawyer

About the role

The Legists is seeking a Public Procurement Lawyer to join its legal team in Greater Manchester. You will work closely with senior government officials, ministers and departmental staff, providing expert advice on public procurement matters and ensuring compliance with UK and EU regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on public procurement policy, contracts and disputes for a range of government departments.
• Draft and review procurement documentation, tender notices and contractual terms.
• Support litigation and advisory work related to procurement challenges.
• Liaise with ministers, officials and external stakeholders to interpret and apply procurement legislation.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of UK procurement rules, EU directives and emerging case law.

Required profile

• A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
• Excellent judgement, impartiality and the capacity to communicate complex legal concepts clearly.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, high‑visibility environment.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of public procurement law and regulations.
• Experience with UK procurement frameworks and EU procurement directives.
• Familiarity with litigation and advisory legal processes.
