Purchase Ledger Assistant – Finance Team

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Purchase Ledger Assistant to join our finance team in Liverpool. This role is ideal for candidates who are AAT qualified or currently studying towards the qualification and want to develop their accounting career in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
• Match, batch and code invoices.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare weekly and monthly payment runs.
• Set up new supplier accounts and maintain supplier records.
• Respond to supplier queries promptly and professionally.
• Assist with month‑end procedures, including accruals and reconciliations.
• Support the finance team with audits and reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.

Required profile

• AAT qualification (Level 3 or above) or actively studying towards AAT.
• Previous experience in a purchase ledger or accounts payable role.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical ability.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel
• Experience with accounting/ERP software such as Sage, SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics
