Purchasing Manager

About the role

We are partnering with an established sales and distribution business in Whitstable to find a Purchasing Manager. The role is permanent and offers a competitive salary, company car and hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily purchasing and demand planning, improving stock availability, forecast accuracy and inventory performance.
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate commercial agreements, monitor performance and mitigate supply‑chain risks.
• Develop product strategy including sourcing, pricing, promotions, product lifecycle management and expansion of the own‑brand range.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Merchandising, Warehouse and senior leadership to launch products, maximise sales and support growth.
• Coach and develop a team of two Planning & Purchasing professionals while driving continuous improvement in procurement processes.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years’ experience in procurement or buying at a managerial level, preferably in furniture, beds or a related category.
• Proven people‑management experience.
• Strong supplier negotiation and contract‑management abilities.
• Comfortable working cross‑functionally with marketing, logistics and sales teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
