Purchasing & Operations Manager

About the role

Stirling Ellis, a fast‑growing SME in electronics manufacturing, is looking for a senior Purchasing & Operations Manager to lead its newly refurbished Slough site. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end purchasing, supply chain, production and quality functions, ensuring the business can meet customer demand through strategic sourcing and data‑driven manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic purchasing initiatives and manage supplier and outsourced manufacturing contracts.
• Lead the production team, applying lean manufacturing techniques and monitoring KPI‑driven process improvements.
• Control the supply chain and inventory to guarantee a steady flow of components and an efficient manufacturing process.
• Act as the ERP super‑user for the newly implemented system, establishing clear processes and measurable KPIs across all functions.
• Set team objectives, oversee personal development plans for a workforce of over 20 employees, and manage product testing, fault finding and customer returns.
• Prepare business cases for efficiency projects and enforce corporate Health & Safety policy.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven senior‑level experience in electronics manufacturing, covering purchasing, supply chain and operations management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and drive continuous improvement.

• ERP system implementation and usage.
• Lean manufacturing techniques.
