Purchasing Supervisor

About the role

This is a permanent, hybrid Purchasing Supervisor position based in Burgess Hill. You will work 2‑3 days per week on‑site and the remainder from home, supporting a scientific‑focused client in managing their sourcing and inventory functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a small sourcing team of three, handling workload planning and performance management.
• Oversee global sourcing activities, negotiate contracts, pricing, SLAs and delivery terms.
• Manage inventory forecasting, optimisation, reporting and monitor stock levels and supply risks.
• Analyse sourcing metrics, identify performance gaps and implement improvement actions.
• Act as escalation point for complex sourcing queries and collaborate with internal stakeholders and customers.
• Ensure compliance with EHS, GDP, GMP, GCP and other regulatory standards, working closely with quality teams.

Required profile

• Experience in order fulfilment, order management or customer service with a focus on team leadership.
• Proven ability to manage sourcing and inventory stages of a fulfilment process.
• Strong communication skills and the capacity to work with senior leadership.
