Purchasing & Transport Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing & Transport Manager to join a growing business on a 9‑month fixed‑term contract. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will own the end‑to‑end purchasing process, supplier relationships, stock control and transport operations, driving cost‑effective performance across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all purchasing activities, from sourcing suppliers to ongoing performance management.
• Negotiate favourable terms and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels to meet business demand.
• Oversee transport operations, including vehicle scheduling, route planning and daily logistics coordination.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and transport regulations.
• Lead, coach and develop the Purchasing & Transport Assistant.
• Produce regular reports on purchasing activity, stock levels, supplier performance and transport operations.
• Collaborate with internal teams on operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
• Hands‑on attitude with capacity to manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Experience using ERP systems.

What we offer

• Salary £35,000‑£37,000 pro rata.
• Hybrid working – two days remote per week.
• 25 days holiday pro rata plus Christmas shutdown.
