Qualified 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Temporary/Full‑Time)

About the role

Join a vibrant primary school in Croydon that is dedicated to nurturing young minds. As a Qualified 1:1 Teaching Assistant you will work closely with teachers to provide targeted support, helping pupils achieve academic and social progress in a safe and inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons.
• Prepare classroom resources, learning materials and activity setups.
• Deliver small‑group and one‑to‑one interventions to support pupils’ academic and social development.
• Provide assistance for students with additional learning needs or EHCPs.
• Supervise pupils during lessons, playtime, group work and transitions.
• Assist with assessments, observations and maintain accurate records.
• Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (essential).
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (essential).
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (essential).
• Proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in an educational setting (desirable).
• Strong understanding of child development and teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team.
• Good organisational skills and initiative.
• First Aid certification (preferred).
• Additional training in SEN, safeguarding or behaviour support (preferred).
