Qualified Accountant – Client Portfolio Management

About the role

MacKenzie King is seeking a Part Qualified or Fully Qualified Accountant to join its established practice on the outskirts of Maldon. The role offers the chance to manage a diverse client portfolio across multiple industries within a supportive, professional environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients from sole traders to limited companies.
• Prepare year‑end accounts, management accounts and financial reports.
• Complete personal and corporate tax returns and VAT returns.
• Provide bookkeeping support and act as the primary contact for client queries.
• Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients and ensure all deadlines are met.
• Deliver financial insight and business support to clients.
• Mentor junior team members and identify process improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA part‑qualified or fully qualified.
• Strong knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance.
• Experience in an accountancy practice is beneficial.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
