Qualified Learning Support Assistant – Secondary SEMH Outreach

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEMH outreach provision in Eccles, Greater Manchester. The role involves supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs both in school settings and within the community, helping them re‑engage with learning.

Key responsibilities

• Support secondary‑aged pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
• Deliver outreach support in schools and community locations.
• Build positive relationships to encourage engagement, confidence and wellbeing.
• Assist in delivering personalised learning programmes and interventions.
• Apply positive behaviour management strategies to aid emotional regulation.
• Collaborate with teachers, families and other professionals to provide consistent support.

Required profile

• Qualified Learning Support Assistant or relevant Teaching Assistant qualification.
• Experience supporting secondary pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, resilient, adaptable and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for outreach work.
• Enhanced Child and Adult DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
