About the role

Vitalis is recruiting an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join the Assessing Fostering Team within Tameside Council. You will play a pivotal part in supporting children to remain connected with their families and care networks through thorough assessments of kinship carers and special guardians.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of kinship carers and special guardians to ensure safe, stable, and nurturing family‑based care arrangements.
• Build strong, meaningful relationships with children, families, and carers, providing advice and guidance throughout the assessment process.
• Prepare high‑quality reports for courts and decision‑making panels, ensuring all statutory responsibilities are met.
• Collaborate with multi‑agency partners, contributing to care planning that reflects each child’s unique needs.
• Maintain accurate records and uphold professional standards.
• Support the ongoing development and improvement of the service.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with relevant registration.
• Proven experience in child welfare, kinship care, or fostering assessments.
• Passionate, dedicated, and able to work collaboratively with multi‑agency teams.
• Strong communication and report‑writing skills.
