Qualified Social Worker – Assessment & Intervention (Oldham)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified social worker to join Oldham Council’s Assessment and Intervention Team on a contract basis. You will work within a duty rota, handling referrals from the Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and conducting single assessments to determine the next steps for children in need.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and assess referrals from MASH.
• Complete single assessments and decide on appropriate interventions.
• Participate in child‑in‑need reviews and initial child protection conferences.
• Transfer cases to the Safeguarding and Care Planning Team when required.
• Collaborate with permanent team members and provide support to colleagues.

Required profile

• Qualified social worker registration.
• Proven experience in assessment and intervention within a busy team.
• Ability to work on a duty rota and handle urgent referrals.
• Strong understanding of child protection processes.
