Qualified Social Worker – Duty & Assessment (Temporary)

About the role

Our client, Northamptonshire's Children Trust, is seeking a qualified social worker to join the Duty and Assessment team. This frontline service acts as the single point of contact for all incoming safeguarding concerns involving young people across the county.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and triage safeguarding referrals from the MASH service.
• Visit Child in Need (CIN) cases within five days and Child Protection (CP) cases within 24 hours, aiming for same‑day visits when possible.
• Work within an allocated geographical area (e.g., Daventry, Northampton Central, Corby) to ensure timely, local response.
• Collaborate with team members including managers, advanced practitioners, newly qualified social workers and family support workers.
• Maintain accurate case records and contribute to multi‑agency discussions.

Required profile

• Qualified social worker with current registration.
• Successful completion of an Enhanced Disclosure (DBS) check.
• Experience in child safeguarding and assessment processes.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict response times.
• Commitment to working within a designated area of Northamptonshire.

Required skills

• Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
• Familiarity with MASH referral pathways.
• Strong case management and documentation skills.
