Qualified Social Worker – Families First Service (Permanent)

About the role

Join Southend City Council's Families First Service as a qualified Social Worker. You will work directly with children, young people and families, using a relational and restorative approach to create lasting, positive change.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong, trusting relationships with children and families, placing the child's lived experience at the centre of all decisions.
• Assess need and risk confidently, developing high‑quality safety and wellbeing plans.
• Deliver coordinated, joined‑up support in partnership with external agencies.
• Provide cost‑effective, child‑focused services while meeting statutory requirements.
• Contribute to team development by leading initiatives aligned with your interests.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker (SWE registration) with a commitment to child‑centred practice.
• Experience working with families and children in a social work setting.
• Ability to assess risk, develop case plans and work collaboratively with partners.
• Strong communication skills and a relational, systemic mindset.
