Qualified Social Worker – Locality Team

About the role

Central Bedfordshire Council is seeking a qualified social worker to join its Locality Family Help team. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality interventions for children and families, from assessment through to court work, with the aim of improving outcomes and reducing the need for local authority care.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of children and families, conducting assessments and direct work.
• Chair multi‑agency meetings and liaise with professionals to coordinate support.
• Produce high‑quality written assessments, reports, and court documentation.
• Implement imaginative, evidence‑based interventions to achieve positive outcomes.
• Contribute to the council’s ambition to move from a ‘Good’ to an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted rating.

Required profile

• Minimum five years post‑qualifying experience as a social worker.
• Proven ability to manage caseloads, chair meetings and influence outcomes for vulnerable children.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Passion for delivering high‑quality services and interventions.
• Essential court experience.
