Qualified Social Worker – MASH Team (Stockport)

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join the Multi‑Agency Safeguarding and Support Hub (MASH) team within Stockport Council. The role is contract‑based, paid at £35 per hour, and focuses on first‑response safeguarding for children and families.
Key responsibilities
- Respond promptly to contacts received by the MASH hub and assess the most appropriate service for children and families.
- Communicate with families, partner agencies and the public to gather historical and current concerns.
- Conduct timely multi‑agency assessments and provide clear recommendations.
- Make informed threshold decisions in line with statutory social work functions.
- Report to the first‑response team leader and contribute to decision‑making processes that protect and safeguard children.
Required profile
- Qualified Social Worker with solid experience in statutory social work.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex safeguarding concerns.
- Confidence in making threshold decisions and delivering recommendations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with partner agencies and the public.
