Qualified Teaching Assistant – Primary School

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Croydon. The role supports the delivery of high‑quality teaching and learning, working closely with teachers to help every pupil succeed. This full‑time position offers the chance to make a real difference in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons.
• Prepare classroom resources, learning materials and set‑up activities.
• Provide small‑group and one‑to‑one interventions to support academic and social progress.
• Support pupils with additional learning needs, including those with EHCPs.
• Supervise students during lessons, playtime, group work and transitions.
• Help with assessments, observations and maintain accurate records.
• Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (essential).
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (essential).
• Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (essential).
• Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in an educational setting (desirable).
• Strong understanding of child development and teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team.
• Good organisational skills and initiative.
• First Aid certification (preferred).
• Additional training in SEN, safeguarding or behaviour support (preferred).
