Quality Engineer – 6‑Month Contract (Up to £37/h)

About the role

This 6‑month contract position is based in Luton and supports the in‑service and returns material activities for a defence electronics programme. The Quality Engineer will act as the focal point for quality matters, ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001 and customer contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the quality focal point for in‑service and returns material activities.
• Investigate and resolve non‑conformances, performing root‑cause analysis and driving corrective actions.
• Review, approve and maintain quality documentation for returns, concessions and repair work.
• Maintain traceability and configuration control of returned and unserviceable items.
• Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, operations and external suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, the Quality Management System and customer contracts.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives across in‑service quality processes.
• Provide timely reports and data to programme, project and functional teams.

Required profile

• Education or experience in engineering, quality, manufacturing or a related discipline within defence electronics or a similarly complex industry.
• Demonstrated knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 and continuous‑improvement principles.
• Experience using quality tools such as root‑cause corrective action, pattern‑fault lifecycle and verification methods.
• Logical thinker capable of turning complex data into actionable solutions.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style.
• Excellent analytical ability and attention to detail.
