Quality Inspector – Engineering Manufacturing

About the role

This permanent, day‑shift position is based in Consett and involves performing Quality Assurance and Quality Control inspections on incoming goods and finished components for an engineering business that specialises in rotating equipment and precision components.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out QA/QC inspections on goods inwards and finished parts to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and customer specifications.
• Complete and maintain accurate quality documentation, including non‑conformance reports.
• Identify, record and report non‑conforming products and support investigations with production and engineering teams.
• Verify that all inspection activities meet purchase order requirements and are prioritised to support production schedules.
• Liaise with workshop and fitting teams to confirm workmanship meets required tolerances.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an ISO 9001:2015 quality management environment.
• Engineering or manufacturing background; experience with pumps or rotating equipment is a plus.
• Strong understanding of engineering tolerances (typically to 0.0005" / 0.01 mm).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings confidently.
• Highly self‑motivated with strong organisational skills.

Required skills

• Use of precision measuring equipment (micrometers, vernier calipers, hand tools) in both imperial and metric units.
• Dimensional inspection techniques.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.
• Interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications.
