Quality Inspector

About the role

We are looking for a Quality Inspector to join a leading aerospace contractor in Portsmouth on a six‑month contract (with the possibility of extension). The role is based in a highly controlled clean‑room environment where you will ensure that production and testing activities meet the stringent quality requirements of space and flight programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain clean‑room quality processes throughout the production lifecycle.
• Carry out detailed inspections and verification of flight hardware, test setups and critical moves.
• Ensure compliance with ECSS standards, particularly the ECSS‑Q‑ST‑70 series.
• Identify, record and investigate non‑conformities and support root‑cause analysis.
• Perform internal audits, complete required documentation and verification checks.
• Support readiness for testing, flight packing and other key inspection points.
• Uphold health, safety and environmental controls within the clean‑room.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Quality Inspector or in a similar quality‑assurance role.
• Background in aerospace, defence or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
• Ability to work effectively in a clean‑room or other controlled environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ECSS quality standards (e.g., ECSS‑Q‑ST‑70 series).
• Experience with inspection processes for flight hardware or high‑precision components.
• Competence in conducting audits and supporting root‑cause investigations.
