Quality Inspector

About the role

We are seeking a Quality Inspector to join a well‑established sheet‑metal subcontractor in Braintree. The role ensures that precision components meet customer specifications, engineering drawings and quality standards through accurate inspection and control processes.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out first‑off, in‑process and final inspections of sheet‑metal components.
• Read and interpret customer and engineering drawings, technical specifications.
• Perform dimensional inspections using verniers, micrometers, height gauges and other measuring tools.
• Identify, record and report non‑conforming products.
• Assist in root‑cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain inspection records, quality documentation and audit readiness.
• Liaise with production teams to ensure quality standards are achieved.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives and quality‑awareness programmes.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Quality Inspector or in Quality Control within a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with sheet‑metal fabrication or precision engineering is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and methodical approach.

Required skills

• Interpretation of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Use of measuring equipment: vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauges.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems (advantageous).
