About the role
Our client, a specialist in the oil & gas manufacturing sector, is seeking a permanent Quality Inspector to join their team in Ashington. You will be responsible for ensuring that machined components meet visual, dimensional and non‑destructive testing standards.
Key responsibilities
- Perform first‑off, in‑process, final, NDT and drift inspections of machined items.
- Calibrate measuring equipment and review all accompanying documentation.
- Upload hardness, NDT and drift test results to Excel spreadsheets.
- Conduct visual examinations and re‑certification of lifting equipment.
- Raise and control internal or subcontractor non‑conformance reports.
- Inspect across the manufacturing and supply‑chain process and liaise with third‑party customer inspectors.
- Participate in HSE initiatives, housekeeping and special projects.
- Cover incoming inspection during absences and support internal/external audits, including CAR and PIR resolution.
- Coordinate with manufacturing and other departments to resolve quality issues and witness pressure tests.
- Create inspection reports in line with quality plans, customer requirements and work instructions.
Required profile
- Knowledge of manufacturing within the oil & gas industry.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- SNT‑TC‑1A vision test.
- Desirable: HNC/HND engineering qualification, experience with ISO 9001 and API Q1, Dye Penetrant Inspection Level II, Magnetic Particle Inspection Level II, familiarity with QMS and ERP (Microsoft AX), full UK driving licence, understanding of international quality codes, formal quality auditing qualification.
