Quantity Surveyor – Commercial Management

About the role

Our client, a leading specialist contractor delivering refrigeration projects for major UK food retailers, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their Refrigeration Division in St Helens. Reporting to the Senior Commercial team, you will manage the contractual, commercial and financial aspects of a high‑volume portfolio of projects, focusing on post‑contract commercial management to ensure profitable delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Review contracts and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Set up commercial arrangements for projects after contract award.
• Place and manage subcontractor and supplier orders.
• Prepare valuations, payment applications and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Monitor project costs, support budget control and manage variations.
• Produce cost/value reports and commercial forecasts.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, payments and final accounts.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experience in quantity surveying within construction, particularly post‑contract commercial management.
• Ability to handle multiple live projects in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail.
